Next models for building

So, I've now got my hands on a second CSM Defiler, which could be used for fighting in Apocalypse or maybe against Orks (to pie-plate the **** out of them). My current Defiler is painted dull gold/ green. What I may do is paint the second one blue (Tzeentch). I'll also see to getting another box of Necron Warriors, which means that I should have 40-something Warriors as the core of the Troops section of my Necrons - I am currently hoping to have them up for battle at some point in April. We'll see about that later.

And so completes a CSM Unholy Quadrangle

So, I've now finished a fourth and final Daemon Prince for my Chaos Space Marines. This is a winged model, intended to be a Kings of Chaos follower affiliated to Nurgle. To show his affiliation to Nurgle, the main colour started off with dark green (Orkhide Shade), followed by drybrushing with knarloc green and rotting flesh and dwarf bronze on the 'arrowy bits'. The armour was painted boltgun metal, washed with devlan mud & gryphonne sepia with orkhide shade trim.
I painted the sword purple (hormagaunt purple) with either mithril silver or chainmail, washed with leviathan purple.
So, that's the Daemon Princes done - now I can concentrate on the CSM infantry and when the weather is more favourable, I can get started on my third unit of Necron warriors.

C'Tan Deceiver built

So, I've now finished a metal C'Tan Deceiver (now known as a C'Tan Shard of the Deceiver), to fill up a third and final Elites slot in my (gradually being built) Necron army. I still have three Deathmarks to build/ paint and a box of 12 Warriors that I bought recently.
I'm not sure whether or not the model would look better on a 60mm base, but I've put it on a 40mm base (the one it came with) to see what it's like initially. If there are any stability issues with that, I'll just change it over to a 60mm base - we'll see.
Now, here is a picture of it in its full glory. The main colouring of the body was boltgun metal/ mithril silver, washed with devlan mud, then gryphonne sepia for a burnished gold look, with the ribbons starting off as regal blue, highlighted with ultramarine blue up to either ice blue or enchanted blue.
Other painting/ building projects are mainly to do with Chaos Space Marines and the long-planned (and still planning) reorganisation o…

Necrons update

So, here's what's happened in terms of building up my Necron army. I've now finished a second Doomsday Ark and have just started with building a C'tan Shard (Deceiver) and will eventually get around to finishing the rest of a 5-man unit of Deathmarks. Once I've got about another 20-30 models, then I can think about fielding them in battle.
Other models that are in the pipeline are the remainder of two units of Thousand Sons, various Chaos Space Marines and an old Land Raider Crusader that I've just finished stripping the paint off of.

Alternative Thousand Sons paint scheme

So, as (possibly) promised, here is a picture of the alternative colour scheme that I decided upon for my third squad of Thousand Sons CSM's. In general, the main armour colour is burnished gold, but with the armour trim painted Liche Purple and Ice Blue as the second colour for the helmet, as opposed to the usual blue/ yellow you would normally associate with the primary Thousand Sons scheme.
I think it's quite nice to have the light blue/ purple contrast for the helmet and it just looks totally different but still cool! So far, I've got two models painted up of this third unit - seven more to go, in addition to re-painting the rest of the second unit (with Regal Blue instead of Liche Purple).
As for the rest of my 40k stuff, construction of my second Necron Doomsday Ark is progressing gradually and I think it may be another 2-3 months before I'll have my first battle using Necrons, as I want to have more Necron warriors (40-60) before they will see battle.
